KIDSTAGE

In partnership with Clark State Performing Arts Center

In partnership with Clark State Community College Performing Arts Center, Ohio Lyric Theatre of Springfield offers KidStage Children's Theater to young people in the Springfield area. Under the direction of  a diverse variety of guest artists and instructors, KidStage members participate in regularly scheduled theater workshops, developing experience in the arts while gaining confidence and self-esteem.

 

In addition to participation opportunities, KidStage members receive discounts to selected family events held at the Clark State Performing Arts Center. KidStage also sponsors "SummerStage," a week-long children's theater camp held at the Clark State Performing Arts Center each July.  KidStage is open to all children entering grades 3—7. (Membership in KidStage requires an annual registration fee. )

Dan Hunt: Backstage with "Little Shop of Horrors"

As Technical Director, Dan will give a backstage tour of the Kuss Auditorium and show the behind the scenes magic of "Little Shop of Horrors". Parents: Please stay to hear about the necessary details for this 2007-08 KidStage season.

Marya Spring: Movement and Acting

Marya will lead a workshop demonstrating and teaching the importance of movement to the actor. Dive into the experience with your whole body!

Kelly Anneken: Playwriting

Having received a Bachelor's in Fine Arts degree from Wright State University, Kelly will guide you through enjoyable activities showing everyone's ability to write and demonstrating how to develop each individuals' talents.

Bruce Cromer: Stage Combat

Be ready for Bruce Cromer! An acting professor at Wright State University, Bruce will guide the KidStage members through an exciting unarmed Stage Combat lesson, teaching ways to safely perform stage kicks, slaps, etc.

Cyndi Barnes & Beth Dixon: Dance

Cyndi Barnes, a local dance educator, and Beth Dixon, community theater actress, pair together to walk through the characteristics of dance and performing dance. A fun way to enhance anyone's overall abilities.

Kay Raplenovich: Voice/Music

Kay, a trained vocal health and musical performer, will share her passion about healthy ways to take care of our body's instrument, the voice. This workshop will be a great opportunity to break out your singing voice and possibly learn a new song!

Kathleen Wilkins: Audition Workshop

As a music teacher at Kenton Ridge High School in Springfield, Kathleen will use her expertise for teaching about proper audition techniques and advice for preparing for an audition. Great knowledge to gain at any age.

THEATER-LOVING KIDS!

SummerStage, the annual KidStage summer camp, is held in July at Clark State Performing Arts Center's Turner Studio Theater. Participants enjoy a week of instruction in acting, singing, movement, stage design, and other theater-related skills, culminating in a performance for family and friends.
